As part of a joint fundraiser with IoW Friends of the Earth, Quay Arts will be screening ‘The Age of Stupid’ on Wednesday, 2 Dec at 7:30pm in the Anthony Minghella Theatre. This apocalyptic film examines climate change, oil, war, politics, consumerism and human stupidity.

Doors open at 6.30pm so come along to enjoy a free glass of organic, fair-trade wine and browse a selection of information materials about what you can do to be ‘not stupid’, get the chance to talk to like-minded people and find out a little more about climate change.

The timing of the screening of this highly popular cult classic film seems perfect with the world focussed on the forthcoming Copenhagen summit taking place in Copenhagen from 7th December. Environment Ministers and officials are expected to meet at this UN conference to thrash out an agreement on the way forward for climate change.

The film that raises important questions and challenges held viewpoints was directed by Franny Armstrong and produced by John Battsek and premiered in the UK in March last year to worldwide acclaim.

Oscar-nominated, (In the Name of the Father; Brassed Off), Pete Postlethwaite stars as a man living in a devastated world of 2055, looking back at archive material from 2007 to see where it all went wrong, asking the question: ‘Why didn’t we stop climate change when we had the chance to? ‘

The film was made with £450,000 raised through 'crowd funding' by way of selling shares on the open market; so funded entirely independently.

Why not take this rare chance to see this important cinematic work and meet with like-minded people over a glass of wine? Book your tickets by calling the Quay Art’s Box Office: (01983) 822490
