In the Warring States period of Japanese history (16th-17th centuries), a potter and his brother-in-law seek fortune, but face upheaval. Adventures and death follow; the pair survive. A tale of ambition, betrayal, and the consequences of one’s choices during a turbulent era.

Directed by Kenji Mizoguchi and released in 1953. With Machiko Kyō, Mitsuko Mito, Kinuyo Tanaka, Masayuki Mori, Sakae Ozawa. Ugetsu Monogatari lasts 1 hour 36 minutes and is Certificate 12. It has English subtitles.
