DJ AFRIKA BAMBAATAA - In the mid-70s, Bambaataa gave up gang warfare for DJing, taking his stage name from an old Zulu chief. After rocking parties and breakdancing competitions across the Bronx, he turned towards production with Soul Sonic Force but it wasn't until the 1980s that Bambaataa became a solo artist, signing to Tommy Boy and releasing "Jazzy Sensation" in 1982. Due to his early use of drum machines and computer sounds, Bam (as he is affectionately known) was instrumental in changing the way R&B and other forms of Black music were recorded. His creation of Electro Funk, beginning with his piece "Planet Rock", with the melody sampled from Kraftwerks "Trans Europe Express, helped fuel the development of other musical genres such as Freestyle or Latin Freestyle, Miami Bass,Electronica, House, Hip House, and early Techno. There is only one Afrika Bambaataa Aasim, a hip-hop godfather, electro pioneer, and true funk acolyte all rolled into one and his dj sets certainly reflect this.....

BORN INA BARN dj/MC set - Born Ina Barn who also play as a six-piece band, formed on the Isle of Wight in 2006; their unorthodox style of Hip-Hop/Reggae has seen them emerging into the UK circuit with unique and high-energy performances at festivals and venues. Their combination of drum breaks and clever sampling, heavyweight bass lines and purring guitar riffs pump energy into crowds of all ages, this sound effortlessly compliments the three MC’s who each have their own unique style moving between harmonic hooks, clever wordplay, rapid callable flows and deep subject matter. ‘If it feels right and And more than that, these tracks still slam crowds of people time and time again. sounds heavy, PLAY IT!’ Even if it’s outside the box, they let crowd be the judge....

COOLY HASTE dj/MC set - A Leading light in The Isle of Wight's first crop of Hip Hop talent, Cooly Haste holds open a crack in time, allowing a chink of light from Hip Hop's golden era to shine through to the future.... He has played every year at Bestival since '05 and has supported People Under the Stairs, Ugly Duckling & Giant Panda locally. Cooly Haste was the Myspace undefeated battle raps champion for 2006, winning a listeners poll four weeks running against American M.Cs.
