The Freshwater & Totland Archive Group is very pleased to welcome Richard Smout to give this talk. Richard is the Isle of Wight Heritage Service Manager at the Records Office in Newport. He describes his talk as follows: “The West Wight has a fine range of church buildings, and an equally diverse collection of church archives. These documents date back to Tudor England and tell the story of our communities over the last 500 years. In this talk we will find out more not just about the buildings, but about parish life, and the lives of the individuals that they served. We will also look briefly at some of the clergy who worked in this area, and get a sense of some of the challenges that they faced.”

Richard will be using ‘handouts’ to illustrate his talk. Everyone is welcome. Entry is £3.00 This is our first public talk since last year, so please support! It promises to be an interesting evening. Richard is an excellent and knowledgeable speaker.

Parking is available in Moa Place car park.
