Charcoal horizontal 2

Sat 21 & Sun 22 Nov, 10am – 4pm, £45 for whole weekend course.

This primarily practical weekend workshop will explore drawings by artists who love working with charcoal with artist Joanna Kori.

The first day will include an introduction to the history of charcoal use and an investigative analysis of a variety of charcoal techniques used by artists. Participants will practice a range of different techniques and approaches they have been introduced to.

The focus on the second day will be on each participant creating a charcoal artwork (or series of artworks) using an approach which they feel will suit their own artistic progression. Issues of scale, composition and themes will be discussed with each person, culminating in a group critical discussion at the end of the day.

Charcoal is provided and some paper, but please bring along extra cartridge paper A3 + putty rubbers). Suitable for all levels and abilities.
