Part of Isle of Arts Festival 2013

Comedyboathouse 400w

Sunday 21 April, 8.30pm, Spyglass Inn Boathouse. £8

Back by popular demand, our Sunday evening comedy-fest will feature four comedians currently making a name for themselves on the circuit, with Ventnor's own Radio 4 comedy writer Hannah George as MC.

Heading the bill is Alastair Barrie, a member of The Cutting Edge team at London’s Comedy Store, who has turned a casual sardonic sense of humour into a fine art. Known for his blisteringly funny rants, he has the knack of “dropping from the highbrow to the gutter in the draw of a breath” according to Metro.

The line-up will also include Joe Wells, who has made a name for himself for threading great gags with razor-sharp political comedy and who has been touring with Alexei Sayle. The Guardian has dubbed him: “A star of the future... some of the most surprising and thought-provoking material coming from any comedian in his early 20s".

On of the hottest rising stars on the stand-up circuit is Angela Barnes. She won the BBC's New Comedy Award in 2011 and recently appeared on Russell Howard's Good News TV show. Now Boathouse comedy goers will have a chance to find out why Sarah Millican says Angela is “brilliantly funny”.

There will also be a special guest spot for the Island's very own Adrian Besozzi, who brings the house down at Quay Comedy nights with riotous impressions and wry observations. He return to Isle of Arts with more locally-inspired comedy.
