St Boniface Day Celebrations

Saint Boniface's feast day is celebrated on 5th June. He is the patron saint of Germany, of brewers and tailors. It has been suggested that the name Bonchurch may be derived from his name.

As part of the Bonchurch Festival there will be a reception at the Hillside Hotel (151 Mitchell Avenue, Ventnor) at 10.00 on Saturday 5th June.

Following a brief presentation, a procession will move on to Bishop's Acre where the local vicar and a pagan priest will take the lead in a ceremony.

It may be possible for people who are fit and active to visit the site of the well but it is not easy to get to and rather dangerous.

Tickets for the event are £5 available from 01983 856544 or from the parish church in Bonchurch.

The person in charge of the Bonchurch Festival is Sally Fitzgerald 01983 853729.
