Community Action Isle of Wight is set to host a free awareness session for parents and carers titled “Eyes Wide”. The session does not require booking and is open to parents and carers from across the Island.

The event will take place on the evening of Monday 4th March at Bay CE Secondary school, lasting 1.5 hours. It aims to equip parents and carers with the knowledge they need to support their children effectively.

This training and awareness session is specifically designed for parents and carers, not for professionals.

The organisation notes that a separate professional training session on 5th March is already at full capacity with 130 professionals registered.

The session is part of three days of free training and awareness activities provided across the Island. These activities are divided into two separate sessions for professionals and parents/carers, along with several interactive workshops.

These workshops, aimed at both primary and secondary school-aged children, cover a variety of topics such as staying safe on the streets, Child Criminal Exploitation, and fostering respect, empathy, and understanding.

The focus of these training sessions and workshops is to contribute to a prevention strategy aimed at maintaining the safety of the Island.

Community Action Isle of Wight is committed to ensuring that the Island remains a safe place for everyone, especially the younger members of the community.
