An exhibition of new artwork by Charlotte Hodge Thomas at Quarr Abbey this Spring promises to be an exciting and colourful display of original paintings, limited edition prints and cards .... along with a few unexpected surprises!

Bembridge artist, Charlotte Hodge Thomas, is renowned for her vibrant paintings of seascapes and marine imagery; sea-marks, buoys, sea-forts, boats and familiar scenes associated with the beaches and headlands of The Island.

Charlotte uses a vivid palette of acrylic paint to capture the essence of what it feels like to be actually standing in the scene...

Her bold paintings marry sweeping backdrops of colour with intense attention to foreground detail. In Charlotte’s paintings buoys and sea-marks take the spotlight as iconic motifs within a dramatic stage of colour, light and space.

In addition to her new collection of signature-style paintings, Charlotte hopes to draw attention to a few different (and quite special) pieces at her Quarr Abbey exhibition this April ... These include a painting entitled ‘Long Ledge Dawn’(which recently awarded Charlotte finalist status in an International Art competition), a long-awaited and dramatic interpretation of the new Lifeboat boathouse and pier at Bembridge and a revisit to some past paintings of a ‘seafood & dining’ theme - previously created for a prestigious restaurant commission.

This vibrant and diverse exhibition will be attended by Charlotte throughout, who will be happy to discuss her art work and answer any questions.

The exhibition will open with a Reception on Wednesday 27th April 6pm-9pm (all welcome) and then continues Thursday 28th April – Tuesday 3rd May, daily from 10.30am - 4.30pm.
