This exhibition and sale of work features three very talented, west wight artists linked by their love of the natural world.  Angela Sowden creates stunning atmospheric paintings, Juliet Collins makes animals come alive in stoneware and Julia Bery translates elements of nature and its shapes into her silver jewellery.

Angela’s focus is on the sea, sky and coast and finds the transforming moods can be dramatic, wild and serene in equal measure. Angela enjoys the big skies, changing weather and the endless horizons but is equally inspired by the intricacy of cliff top grasses, hedgerows and pebbly rock pools. From these experiences, Angela creates stunning paintings of our island environment.

Juliet creates exquisite representations of a wide range of animals from across the globe , each one perfectly conveying their character and spirit.  Pieces include elephants, water buffalo and bears and closer to home hares, cats, dogs and horses. She mostly uses stoneware ‘crank’ clay for its fantastic texture which helps to convey the sense of strength in her animals.

Julia brings elements of the natural world around her into individually designed pieces. She makes a range of elegant and timeless sterling silver jewellery including rings, bangles, pendants and earrings that range from everyday wear to statement pieces. Included in these are cuttlefish cast pendants and earrings, each one with a unique texture resembling ripples on the sea.
