Isle of Wight council’s proposals to change governance arrangements from a “Leader and Cabinet model” to a “committee system” will be the subject of a public meeting at County Hall.
The local authority’s public engagement event will provide a brief on the potential for a change to a committee system and to seek feedback from Island residents over the possible move that might see five committees set up covering:
There would be no change to the various statutory committees such as Planning and Licensing.
A detailed report will be considered at an extraordinary meeting of the council on 1st May 2024.
At that meeting the council could make a formal resolution to proceed with any changes and introduce them either at the annual council meeting on 15th May 2024, or May 2025.
The public meeting will take place at County Hall at 6pm on Monday 15th April in conference room 5.
Those attending in person should arrive 10 minutes prior start time at reception in County Hall and there will be free parking in the County Hall car park.
The meeting will also be accessible remotely.
