We are looking for volunteers to help us as we investigate these special places which are not only important to the island but nationally scarce.

Garden History Detective volunteers will: Learn how to use documentary and online sources such as historic maps, photographs and illustrations for research into historic gardens. Join us as we visit some of the Marine Villa grounds and gardens to look for remaining garden features, taking notes and photographic records to help us record these. Many of these sites are not usually open to the public and we have the owners support to explore and investigate. Help us to bring together the information we have discovered so that we can add this to our extensive records on historic parks, gardens and designed landscapes on the Isle of Wight. Receive a free copy of our final publication which will record what the project has achieved and how our knowledge has grown from this Garden History Detective approach. Garden History Detectives need to be a signed up member of the Isle of Wight Gardens Trust Single annual subscription is £15 Joint annual subscription is £20 We will have a series of meetings and activities during the life of the project, free for Garden History Detectives and hope you will join us on our quest to discover more.
