The work of Ally Ashworth often has its starting point in the textural qualities of materials along with a sensitivity to colour and composition. For Ally, art making is a means to investigate and express aspects of life, be that specific themes or something much more internal and instinctive.

This show brings together textile collage, some smaller textile-based constructions and two framed prints created between 2020-2023.

During this period Ally felt the particular need to pay attention to and resist the pressures of time and productivity. Not wanting ‘productivity’ to be the loudest voice she reflected on the idea of expansive time rather than calendar time and her desire to operate contentedly within deep time.
