Isle of Wight Arts Open Studios Showcase Exhibition 2011 offers a wealth of artworks selected from artists participating in this year’s Open Studios on the Isle of Wight.

A record 125 island artists, painters, photographers, ceramicists, sculptors, textile artists and digital artists are celebrating the rich creative talent on our island for you to enjoy during the Open Studios weekends and over 20 of those participating will be part of the showcase exhibition.

Since taking over the event from the Council, Isle of Wight Arts felt it would be a real let-down for Islanders and artists alike if they did not build on the success of last year. With Red Funnel on board as a major sponsor, Open Studios 2011 promises to be the biggest event yet. Artist and chairperson of the group Mandy Bangerter says, “The enthusiasm and support of artists, the community and our sponsors has been fantastic. We’re receiving great feedback about the quality and variety of the work on show this year and are looking forward to welcoming you all.”

The exhibition in Quay Arts’ Cafe showcases a myriad of styles and subjects; a pick ‘n’ mix of vibrant expressive works, from textiles to paintings, and from still life’s to abstract works – there really is something for everyone and represents the vast range of artists works that you can view during the Open Studios weekends in July.

A directory of participating artists, giving details of their work and directions to studios is now available from Quay Arts and other arts outlets across the Island, as well as from Red Funnel vessels and terminals. Open Studios 2011 dates and areas are: 15 -18 July / South & West Wight 22 - 25 July / Central, North & East Wight
