2.30pm, Sunday 22 April, Ventnor Youth Centre

Milonga is a form of tango, a dance like no other. It’s hot, it’s Latin and it’s here. This is a chance to immerse yourself first hand in this great dance form with top flight instructors. We guarantee that by the end of this session you will be hotter and you’ll have some of the basic footwork of the Argentine tango under your belt, plus one of the signature moves you've seen on programmes like BBC's Strictly Come Dancing.

After refreshments, there will be a chance to try out your new moves in a Milonga – a social freestyle dance to both authentic and contemporary music. This workshop is suitable for beginners and the more experienced alike.

Dance teacher Amanda Fyles and her dance partner Basil Barrett are fresh from their appearances with Flavio de Brito’s Tanguera Dance Company in the touring show Tango Vida.

Amanda is a Licentiate of the Royal Academy of Dance. She has previously run her own ballet school and taught at home and abroad for many years. Her pupils have frequently gone on to work professionally in dance - her past and current pupils have danced with the Royal Ballet from the age of nine upwards.

She has built up a formidable reputation on the mainland as a show choreographer and also as a costumier. So far this year she has handmade over 90 stage costumes. Her recent film work includes Sherlock Holmes and Prince of Persia.
