Dimbola Museum and Galleries will be hosting Carinthia West’s latest exhibition ‘West With the Wight’ on 06.04.12 until 01.07.12

Carinthia West travelled the world with her liberated art-loving parents, before embarking on her own career in the 1970's as a model, actress and photo-journalist. In this exhibition, Carinthia returns to her roots in the Isle of Wight, where her mother's family date back five generations, and which she regards as her “spiritual home”.

Muse magazine writes, "she was a free spirit wandering within these inspiring times with her camera, blissfully unaware that she was candidly recording icons and iconic moments of the times".

This exhibition shows an eclectic range of personal memorabilia; from her great-grandmother’s family albums, to 1960’s contemporary art.

The photographs were never intended for publication, yet her warm behind-the-scenes photographs of friends from rock, film and theatre aristocracy define the life she lived. ‘West With the Wight’ builds on recent exhibitions in Birmingham and London.
