Part of Isle of Arts Festival 2012
11.30am, Sunday 22 April, Festival Marquee
Leon Simmonds Trio with guest vocalist Val Wiseman
Food by Robert Thompson, The Hamborough
Val will present her tribute to the singers who have inspired her throughout her career, featuring songs performed by Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, Peggy Lee, Anita O’ Day and Sarah Vaughan. She has worked with many top jazz names in the country, including Humphrey Littleton, Digby Fairweather and Brian Dee and in 2011 was the winner of the coveted British Jazz Award for best vocalist.
She will be accompanied by a top quality jazz trio made up of the the Island's own Leon Simmons on bass and Ken Black on drums, together with London-based pianist Ronnie Bowater. As if that wasn’t enough to make your Sunday, you also have the option of adding a light but oh so tasty brunch, organized by Robert Thompson, Ventnor’s own Michelin starred Chef and the man responsible for the superb food served at both The Harborough in Ventnor and the Pond Café in Bonchurch.
Robert is rightly famous for his use of the best produce the Island has to offer, and we are delighted that he has offered to prepare the food for this event.
Advance booking is required for food inclusive tickets
