What Is 'Cottagecore' and how do waistcoats fit into the mix?
"Cottagecore is an aesthetic that celebrates simple, sustainable living, particularly in the countryside. It encourages a lifestyle rooted in traditional skills like baking bread, gardening, and sewing your own clothes"

The humble waistcoat? Not so much! There is SO much to say about this pocket rocket of a garment but in a nutshell...

Originally the first piece of recognised "sporting attire" the waistcoat or vest was worn universally across different class backgrounds and throughout the world. It is never in or out of style it has resurgences like most classics, but it is always there whether you notice it or not. Believed to be the hardest thing to make on traditional tailoring courses, because of their intricate design having no less than 20 pattern pieces (we are not making that particular style don't worry!) the waistcoat can be dressed up or down and worn by anyone.. adults, children... even pets.
