Home educating families are invited to attend a series of free events providing a taster of the brilliant educational visits and workshops available at a range of Isle of Wight Museums. As well as giving these families an opportunity to experience these museums, we hope to better understand their needs and wants and how our museums can help.
The next event will be hosted by the Classic Boat Museum on Tuesday 17th October with a visit to the museum Boat Shed (Cowes) from 10-11am and a visit to the museum Gallery (East Cowes) from 12.30-2pm.
Learn about the Island’s maritime innovations over the past 150 years using the museum’s fantastic collections. There will be guided tours and self-led trails as well as a Lego boat designing workshop.

Further events will be held at Carisbrooke Castle Museum (Tuesday 21st November) and the Museum of Island History (Wednesday 13th December). Email [email protected] for further information.
These events are organised by Isle of Wight Museums and Schools, a partnership of 11 local museums and the Isle of Wight Cultural Education Partnership which is led by the Isle of Wight Council’s Heritage Service. The aim of the Museums and Schools programme is to enhance the links between local schools and museums, and it is supported by Arts Council England and funded through the Department for Education.
