Exciting new Edinburgh-born vocalist & multi-instrumentalist Brooke Combe has today unveiled her debut single ‘Are You With Me?’. The hotly-anticipated first original release from soulful singer Combe - who is already familiar to legions of fans on social media through her viral covers of everyone from Marvin Gaye to the Scottish men's football team's unofficial Euro 2020 song - ‘Are You With Me?’ is a tantalising window into the world of a singularly talented and hugely exciting young artist.

21 year old Combe - now based in East and Midlothian - wrote ‘Are You With Me?’ in just 20 minutes during a 3am writing session then aged 18. Recorded by The Coral’s James Skelly & Chris Taylor at Liverpool’s legendary Parr Street Studios in 2020 (where Combe also filmed the accompanying live video by Sam Crowston), ‘Are You With Me?” was mixed by longtime Black Keys collaborator Kennie Takahashi and also features Blossoms’ Chaz Salt on bass and Aden Peets on drums.

Combe explains of ‘Are You With Me?’ and its origins: “I wrote ‘Are You With Me?’ when I was 18 at like 3am one morning and it only took me around 20 minutes to write. I had a completely different chorus at that point and the song was called ‘Barricades’. I showed it to my dad though and we just weren’t vibing with it. The next day I wrote, “Are you with me honey? Are you with me darling” and that just felt so perfect. Two years after that, I went to Parr Street Studios and worked with James Skelly and Chris Taylor to create the sound we have now. We also had Chaz Salt from Blossoms on bass and Aden Peets on drums and let me tell you, that was some trio in the studio. What I will say for ‘AYWM?’ is... thank god for a bit of heartbreak, otherwise the song wouldn’t exist.”

Brooke Combe discovered a love for music aged just 5 years old, after getting her first toy drum kit. Eventually she added playing saxophone, trombone, guitar, bass and piano to her repertoire while at secondary school and began to find her own uniquely powerful voice along the way. Combe, influenced by the ‘90s R&B played in her mum and dad's house, as well as the Motown her grandparents would play her, developed a love of great songwriting and vocalists and lyricists with their own idiosyncrasies - such as Amy Winehouse and Fleetwood Mac - before beginning to work on her own material.

Now, with her stunning first statement ‘Are You With Me?’ finally out in the world, Brooke Combe has announced herself as a genuine artist to watch in 2021 and beyond.
