Martin Swan RSMA and Sarah Talbot are showing a selection of their beautiful landscape and marine paintings, together with Sarah’s much-loved portraits and animal paintings, in their exhibition in The Gallery at Quarr Abbey, from 25th until 30th May.
They are joined by Melanie Swan, with her silk panel and mixed media installation ‘Fade’.
Martin will also be making botanical drawing in a ‘pop-up’ studio space in the gallery, and Melanie will be painting a sample panel in egg tempera.
The Gallery is wheelchair accessible and open 10am-5pm daily.
Martin and Melanie Swan are also taking part in Quay Arts exciting new 2023 Summer School programme. Martin’s ‘Botanical Drawing and Painting’ workshop will introduce students to drawing plants and flowers in fine detail, finishing them with washes of watercolour paint.
In Melanie’s workshop, students will learn to prepare and mix their own egg tempera paints, using naturally sourced pigments, to paint on panels prepared with traditional gesso made by Melanie
Other workshops include Oil Painting with Nick Martin, Straw Marquetry with Delphine Robin, Printmaking and bookbinding with Kae Carlstedt-Duke, a Charcoal Day with Caroline Underwood, a Tatty Devine Jewellery Workshop and a Pottery Glaze Day with Clair Robinson Quay Arts will soon be announcing their full programme, with information and dates of these and other Summer School workshops soon: www.quayarts.org
