Bind a Decorative Notebook with Kae Carlstedt-Duke Saturday 12th August | Jubilee Stores, Newport 10am – 4pm | £60 (includes materials)

Making a single section notebook is a great introduction to bookbinding skills. You will learn the basic techniques using professional tools and materials to fold, sew and create a quarter-bound cover in book cloth and paper.

There will be plenty of book cloth colours for you to choose from and we’re going to really personalise our book by creating decorative cover paper. During the workshop you will learn how to carve and print stamps and use this to cover your notebook. The technique is an ideal introduction to relief printmaking and any form of DIY print.

All techniques are designed so you can easily reproduce this binding at home with minimal tools.

Please bring an apron and a mug. Light refreshments will be provided but please bring your own lunch.

Kae Carlesdt-Duke runs The Lazy Dog Press, a unique letter press studio on the Isle of Wight. As well as working with restored letterpress print machines and original wood and letter type to create hand printed stationary, Kae is a skilled book restorer and experienced tutor with a passion for artist books.
