The second concert in West Wight Arts Association’s 2023/2024 season will be given by the Swiss baritone Joël Terrin and American pianist Cole Knutson on October 14th in the Memorial Hall, Freshwater starting at 7.00pm.
They will perform a narrative cycle of English pastoral music and Brahms lieder in the first half and Ravel’s Histoires Naturelles, light hearted settings of five poems about animals by Jules Renard in the second half.
Joël studied in Lausanne before moving to London to the Guildhall school of Music and Drama where he won the English Song prize. He has been working with the London Symphony Orchestra and the Wigmore Hall French Song Exchange. He is a Samling artist and an ambassador for song for the Oxford Lieder Festival.
Joël is a consummate communicator with a rich voice, immaculate diction and a sense of performance which engages the audience immediately. West Wight Arts trustees heard Joël and Cole at the Young Classical Artists Trust finals at the Wigmore Hall in 2021 and were bowled over by their performance.
Tickets at £16.00 (£2.00 children and students) are available from www.westwightarts.co.uk (booking fee applies) or Totland Parish Office 756028
