Discover the early life of Queen Victoria with lecturer Kevin Shaw.
From her isolated childhood brought up by her domineering mother, this talk, using much of Victoria’s talented artwork, follows her life as she became heir to the throne aged 11 and Queen of the most powerful nation on earth when just 18. It also shows how after a brief honeymoon period, her impetuous approach soon damaged her popularity as monarch – something slowly but surely reversed following her marriage to Albert, who for the next 21 years steered Victoria and the monarchy to a more considerate, conscientious and caring role … until, that is, his premature death aged 42.
Tickets £5 - Advanced booking required.
Please note, gates will be open from 5.30pm-5.55pm with the talk starting promptly at 6pm.
