Biosphere in the bays day 1... browns beyond with iris shrewbert the common space 17th june 2023

Calling all Family Biosphere Pioneers!

Now's your chance to take part in the new Sandown Bay Story Trails and the upcoming Biosphere in the Bay Days! Discover Sandown Bay’s wild and not so wild spaces, through words, pictures, things to do, things to learn, ways to get moving, and all with the help of a shrew, a rock pipit and a whole heap of other everyday wildlife.

FIRST UP IS...

Browns & Beyond with Iris & Shrewbert!

Saturday 17 June 2023 - 11am prompt!

Meet us (and Iris the Rock Pipit and Shrewbert the Shrew) at the Blue Fountains outside Browns Café, Culver Parade, Sandown PO36 8QA

• Collect your Story Trail and Explore! • Make your own Wild Map with artist Lucia Para • Big Draw with The Common Space

Bring a picnic and wear comfy shoes!

There are two trails to choose from, each a bit bumpy and each will take about an hour. Iris & Shrewbert covers Browns Golf Course, the Reed Bed and Willow Walks, Sandham Gardens and the Canoe Lake, Culver Parade and Science Beach!

What’s the Plot?

At each of this summer’s Biosphere in the Bay Days, you'll be able to pick up an advance copy of the booklet for that place. Then the plan is to head off to explore with your new sparkling new story trail. Bring a picnic for when you’re done discovering, come back to join the artists who brought these familiar places to new life on the page for hands-on arts workshops, Vox Pops and Big Draws! Share your ideas and thoughts for Biosphere in the Bays too!

How to get here: Walk along the seafront, Beryl-it, Bike-it, Bus-it (Dinosaur Isle is the nearest stop), or park at Dinosaur Isle car park (PO36 8QA).
