RC Bridgestock lifts the lid on how the experience of real-life crime cases becomes successful page-turning fiction in the DI Dylan novels.

RC turns out to be writing duo Bob and Carol Bridgestock, who bring a unique insight to the crime novel. Bob spent his career in CID, retiring at the rank of Detective Superintendent of the West Yorkshire Police. As Senior Investigating Officer, he took command of some 26 murder investigations, 23 major incidents, including shootings and attempted murders and over 50 suspicious deaths and numerous sexual assaults.

Carol worked within the force for 17 years and brings her understanding and experience of being a partner of a frontline detective to the D.I. Dylan series. This combination adds authenticity rarely seen in British crime fiction, coupled with warmth, humour and humanity.

Their third novel, White Lilies, published on 25 March, sees their hero DI Jack Dylan trying to cope with two fatal road accidents, an elderly lady found battered to death, two girls brutally attacked, a chief suspect found dead, a life threatening hostage negotiation and a stabbing. Oh, and as if that wasn't enough, his partner Jen is about to give birth.

This will be a fascinating opportunity for budding writers and crime fiction fans alike to discover just how this Island-based duo write together and develop their characters.
