Friday 19 April 9.30pm St Catherine's Church. £13
Their music is as French as the band’s name. Fleur de Paris celebrate chansons and swing from 30’s to 50’s Paris. They evoke the dimly-lit cafés and humid dance halls of Montmartre and Pigalle, as well as the bohemian left-bank cabarets of Montparnasse and St Germain-Des-Prés.
Their arrangements of classic chanson and French singers, including Edith Piaf, Lucienne Delyle and Charles Trenet, plus a touch of Django's Hot Club de France, capture a golden age of orchestral magic and smooth cinematic jazz.
Chanteuse Lo Polidoro leads Fleur de Paris. Born in a village near Lyon, France, Lo has been singing and performing since childhood. Her voice, full of joy and drama, brings to life the songs in a way that will elegantly transport you. She is accompanied by her husband Nigel Broderick on piano accordion, Kirsten Hammond on violin, Martin Brown on guitar and Simon C Russell on double bass.
