Beach tennis is a combination of tennis and volleyball. It is played on a volleyball court and apart from a couple of exceptions, uses tennis rules.
The bats are known as paddle bats and the ball is a slightly depressurised tennis ball. Usually played in doubles, beach tennis is a relatively new sport, first becoming established in 2008, which is growing increasingly popular around the world.
Open to all ages and usually played in doubles beach tennis is a fun way to stay active and have fun with friends whilst being surrounded in the perfect environment of sun, sea and sand!
Wight Wave Beach Sports brings volleyball, soccer, rugby, footvolley, tennis & music together through sand based community events on the Isle of Wight. Wight Wave are committed to the protection and enjoyment of our local beaches through educating our many beach users on respecting the natural coastal ecosystems via our core Wight Wave values.
