Hedgelaying Competition 2017
One of the first rural events of the year will be taking place on Saturday 25th February, a welcome sign that Spring is well on its way and a chance to shake off any winter malaise and get back into our stunning countryside. 2017 marks the 10th anniversary of the Isle of Wight Hedgelaying competition, organised by the Isle of Wight Hedgelaying Group. People travel from all over the country to take part in this ever popular event that is flying the flag for our island’s countryside heritage.
Apart from the event itself, this year, Gift to Nature, the Island’s local countryside management charity, will be organising a fundraising Hedeglayers’ Supper The supper will take part at Quay Arts in Newport, on the evening of the 25th, where the chefs have created a delicious, rurally inspired feast, especially for event to reflect the local environment and seasonality.
To help raise funds the evening will include an auction of lots donated by local businesses and friends of the charity and with entertainment provided by local trio Second Time Around it’s looking like a great way to kick off your Island social calendar.
Tickets will be £26 per head. And can be booked online by going to the Gift to Nature website and following the link. No Hedgelaying skills required !
