The Vectis Decorative & Fine Arts Society present Laura Knight: From Newlyn To Nuremburg
Doors open at 6.30pm. Light suppers and bar available. Lecture starts at 8pm until 9pm. Visitors welcome £8.00
Laura Knight was a painter of the famous war crimes trials of 1946 but was also one of this country’s best-known artists and the first female Royal Academician since the 18th Century.
Dame Laura Knight's work encompasses Cornwall, the ballet, the circus, theatre and culminates in her depictions of the Nuremburg War Trials. She grew up in Nottingham but spent much of her time in Cornwall.
The lecturer
Bernard Allan has a BA (Hons) in History and an MA in the History of Art. He also works as a tutor for the WEA and lectures widely for NADFAS Illustration: Ruby Loftus Screwing a Breech Ring (1943)
