The Dussek Piano Trio will be making a welcome return to Freshwater Memorial Hall on Saturday March 7th at 7.00pm.
Michael Dussek, the distinguished concert pianist, chamber musician and Head of Piano Accompaniment at the Royal Academy of Music, has been coming to WWAA since 1985 and this may well be his twelfth appearance in Freshwater.
His wife Margaret Powell, cellist and former pupil of Jacqueline du Pré, has taught at the Junior Guildhall School of Music and Drama since 1985, and was Head of Chamber Music for 10 years.
The violinist Manon Derome was born in Canada and came to London for further studies with Rodney Friend. She now works with the London Chamber Orchestra and the Chamber Orchestra of Europe, and also records music for film and television.
They will play a programme of well loved favourites of the classical music repertoire for piano trio, consisting of Beethoven’s Trio in E flat opus 1 no 1, part of set of three piano trios first performed in 1793 in the house of Prince Lichnowsky, to whom they are dedicated. This will be followed by Schumann’s Fantasiestücke in A minor, opus 66 written in 1842, and the concert will end with Mendelssohn’s Trio no 2 in C minor opus 66, written three years later.
Tickets (£12.00, Students £2.00) are available from Totland Parish Office, 756028 or via the West Wight Arts Association website www.westwightarts.co.uk or at the door NB 7.00 start
