Looking at the regions experiences of war, ‘Battle Lines’ is a trilogy of short plays exploring the way three wars have shaped the lives of generations. Showing at Quay Arts is:
First World War: ‘The Call Up’
A century ago a small village community sees a generation
of young men leave to fight for King and Country. When the men are gone what happens to those that remain? Forest Forge shines a light on the personal stories that didn’t make it into the history books.
Modern Warfare: ‘In Our Name’
The military ‘community’ is a modern phenomenon, oftenliving on the outskirts of a town or city, or absorbed into a society that struggles to understand them. This play looks at how modern warfare challenges both those that fight and the people they are fighting for.
