Dom Pipkin & The Ikos plus support from Laurie McVay & The High Rollers

A uniquely flavoured and world travelled live band, Dom Pipkin & The Ikos deliver the hottest New Orleans funk and Rhythm & Blues, driven by killer UK piano player Dom Pipkin.

“I can’t hold a candle to this guy. He’s a serious piano player” Jamie Cullum

Wowing audiences wherever they go and currently making serious waves in the UK music scene, Dom & the Ikos are a London based 5-piece with a heavy pedigree. With their stagecraft honed from a two year residency at Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club, the band bring the classic sound of New Orleans Funk and R&B right into the 21st century. Led by Dom Pipkin, a man with a blues heritage reaching from appearances with Eric Bibb, Pee Wee Ellis, Ray Davies and Paul Jones, to name just a few. He has also opened for Dr John and the late Screamin’ Jay Hawkins as well as working as music director/piano player for Paloma Faith on her European and world tours.

Conjuring up the spirit of Professor Longhair and James Booker, this band’s piano-driven grooves drive deep into the heart of this infectious R&B sound. Combining wailing saxophones, pristine harmonies and savage piano playing this band evoke the honky-tonk bars of notorious Old Bourbon Street – one of the most compelling live RnB acts around on the scene today.

“Love your piano playing” Paul Weller

Support comes from soul-blues modernist Laurie McVay and his band, The High Rollers. His new CD, The Blues World of Laurie McVay, carries echoes of Sam Cooke, Marvin Gaye, Tim Buckley and others, but the sound is totally his own.
