Most people will be familiar with the history of the V2 rocket attacks on London during the Second World War. Since then, a number of nations have proliferated ballistic missiles.
This talk will cover the early development of rockets and early defence techniques, and an assessment of current ballistic missile capability around the world.
The talk will also cover a current programme which is exploring the potential of the Royal Navy’s Type 45 destroyers to conduct possible Ballistic Missile Defence missions. This includes experiments on the SAMPSON radar, designed and built by BAE Systems at Cowes.
Speaker: Jonathon Bluestone BSc (Hons) MIET, BAE Systems
