It’s a Beautiful Day exemplify the hippie San Franciso sound, with their electric violin, psychedelic guitar, floating vocals by the late Pattie Sanatos and their anthem ‘White Bird’ They came over to play the 1970 Bath festival, and were one of the last bands to play the Fillmore West, then recorded a live album at Carnegie Hall before splitting up in 1974.

Now this staple of John Peel’s Top Gear show in the late sixties and key albums of the era like ‘Choice Quality Stuff’ and ‘Marrying Maiden’ have reformed, and are playing live at Dimbola on the evening of Sunday 11th August, as part of a brief UK tour.

The band will feature lead violinist David La Flamme, and drummer Matt Wheatley, with singer Linda La Flamme and Rob Espinosa (lead guitar), and Steve Browning (on bass guitar).

Doors are at 6.30pm and the band will be on stage at 7pm, and play two sets, so that those who need to can get the last ferry back to Lymington
