“Change Ringing” is one of the methods of bell ringing and is a tradition that goes back to the C17th.

Island Church Bell Ringers working with The Isle of Wight Council and Newport Minster Church are organising a Bell Ringing Open Day and Exhibition that will be held at The Minster on Saturday, 21st April.

The event will open at 10am and close at 4pm.

It’s hoped that retired ringers and new recruits will be encouraged to join in the ringing for “The Jubilee” celebrations in June.

Come and have a go at bell ringing! (Training will be given as a follow up to the Open Day’s trial sessions.) Children will need to be accompanied by an adult, please.

Access to the ringing room is via a stone, spiral staircase but the exhibition will be on the ground floor. Light refreshments will be available.
