9pm, Saturday 21 April, The Boathouse, Spyglass Inn

Supertramp sax-man John Helliwell and his band Crème Anglaise, a "who's who" of British rock and jazz musicians, will be performing a special evening of jazz, funk, blues, rock and soul on Saturday 21 April.

In the intimate setting of The Boat House, this will be a very personal evening of music based on the many inspirations of the musician who has also played sax on recordings for world class acts including Diana Ross, Thin Lizzy and Chris de Burgh.

Crème Anglaise vocalist and keyboard player John Ellis was a founding member of punk rock band the Vibrators, going to to work with Peter Gabriel and to play with The Stranglers for 10 years. His recent work has included recordings with Lily Allen, Corinne Bailey Rae, Tom Jones and James Yorkston.

Bass player Geth Griffin’s eclectic taste in music has led to work with Opera North, the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, The Nolans, plus various touring West End shows including Guys and Dolls and Miss Saigon. Guitarist Mike Walker has played and recorded with many of music’s great talents including Mica Paris, Jaqui Dankworth, Django Bates and Andy Sheppard to name but a few.

Drummer Steve Gilbert has recorded/broadcasted with a wide range of artists from Lisa Stansfield to James Galway. He has also accompanied many leading jazz artists from both the UK and abroad including: Art Farmer, Jim Mullen, Bobby Wellins, Chris "Snake" Davies and Bruce Adams.
