As a five-year-old Robin Cousins decided he wanted to be Gene Kelly and dance.
And then there was Millwall Football Club, without whom the journey to Olympic gold may never have happened…
'Before the war my father was an apprentice at Millwall FC and had hopes for a career as a goalie. When told his son wanted to dance, his response was simple. Millwall had a ballet coach to help their agility and injury prevention. If it was good enough for Millwall it was good enough for his son'
And the rest as they say… Fifty years and one Olympic Gold Medal later, Robin's fascinating journey comes to life through anecdotes and music, with songs by Gershwin, Alan and Marilyn Bergman, Billy Joel and Jon and Vangelis.
