With a painting career spanning over 60 years, Peter Wright is one of the Isle of Wight’s best known artists. Coinciding with his 80th Birthday, this exhibition celebrates the breadth of his work over the last 12 years.

Working in oils, Wright’s distinctive style is intensely bold and vivid. Taking inspiration from the land and the sea, he celebrates and at times, documents the landscape through various locations in Britain, France and the Greek Islands. Containing strong graphic compositions and thickly applied paint, colours are contrasted through defined edges and emphasised lines, gesturing towards a more minimalist route.

Wright’s work has sold internationally and is part of numerous public and private collections throughout Europe, including major industrial bodies like I.C.I Ltd, various Universities and the NHS. His work has spread as far as Australia, Canada, the Czech Republic, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Portugal, Spain, USA, South Africa, New Zealand and throughout the British Isles.
