Garlic festival

Sat 18 - Sun 19 August

The Isle of Wight's Garlic Festival is the Island's biggest summer show, and simply the best day out for all the family. It's fun, it's foodie, it offers a huge variety of entertainments, and it's great value for money!

At the centre of it all is the Island's great local produce, most especially the fabulous local garlic, used in all sorts of ways from ice cream to salad dressing. And who could resist all the other treats on offer? Moules, lamb, speciality breads, scrumptious cheeses, the famous Minghella ice cream, luscious fudges – in short, everything to make you say "Yum!" There'll be lots of cookery demonstrations, tastings, and free samples. See our stunning Garlic Queen, join the fun running in our garlic and spoon races! There’s a garlic eating contest too.

MUSIC is a vital part of it all – sit on a straw bale in front of the big stage featuring top bands including Bootleg Blondie, Paper Lace, Loser Token, Derek Sandy, Lucid, Beached Buoys.

Quench your thirst in the beer tent and enjoy fabulous ales and ciders made on the Isle of Wight. Why not take a genteel stroll to the delights of the tea tent for cream teas and all manner of perfect pastries and dainty snacks.

Weensy children will love to climb aboard our teensy railway and enjoy bouncy fun on festival inflatables. The older kids can go screaming mad on the Island's biggest funfair rides. There's a climbing wall, entertainers galore and face painters. You don't have to be a child to love David Randini's traditional Punch & Judy show and magic tricks, or Mark Tuckey's scary ghost talks.

We have jugglers and Star War characters, and the unmissable Titan, the amazing robot whose gargantuan menace will both enthral and terrify you! The festival arena will feature all sorts of talent, both human and animal, while our wandering entertainers include a one-man band and a brawny skirling bagpiper.

If transport's your thing, you'll be as happy as Puffing Billy with our classic cars, motorcycles, lorries, tractors, and farm machinery.

The Garlic Festival is not just renowned for fabulous entertainment. It is also a major fund-raiser for dozens of good causes, thanks to the generosity of our visitors. The show is the Isle of Wight at its very best, we are all very proud of it! Dogs are welcome at the show as long as they are kept on a lead at all times and you clean up after them.
