Living Larder opens its doors for Open Farm Sunday

Living Larder, based in Apse Heath, are inviting families to come on down to the farm on Sunday 5 June to celebrate British Farming and Food and see how their vegetables are grown using traditional farming methods.

There will be guided farm tours, a demonstration beehive as well as bug spotting and pond dipping with The Hampshire and Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust. Robert Thompson (who in 2007 was the youngest British Chef to be awarded a Michelin Star) will be hosting a pop up kitchen using produce grown on the farm; showcasing the seasonal produce that is available in Living Larders weekly veg boxes.

This is a free event, with free farm tours, however, there will be a charge for food and drink. To ensure that Living Larder and Robert Thompson are able to cater for all those that would like to attend, please email [email protected] or join the Facebook event page.

Living Larder grow, pick and deliver veg boxes across the Isle of Wight as well as supplying a number of the Islands finest restaurants and independent retailers. Growing on a small scale, their emphasis is on fresh produce with flavour.

Delicious heritage varieties, grown slowly and harvested by hand at the point of ripeness and delivered that same day with recipe suggestions included.

Now in its eleventh year, Open Farm Sunday is the perfect way to visit a farm, meet the farmer and find out how your food is produced. Visit Living Larder on the 5th June and help celebrate British farming and food.
