‘Isle of Wight Austerity Uncovered’ and ‘Isle of Wight Needs a Pay Rise’ Tour (24 - 25 March)
Following on from last summer’s Austerity Uncovered bus tour, SERTUC is going to use a mini bus to travel around the Isle of Wight to listen to local people tell their stories about pay, the cost of living, austerity and public service cuts.
The mini bus, carrying ‘Britain Needs a Pay Rise’ and ‘Austerity Uncovered’ livery, will be used as a campaign focus in East Cowes, Ryde, Sandown and Newport where activists on the bus will talk to local people about their level of pay, the cost of living, the living wage and insecure hours of work.
The tour is being organised with cooperation of trade unions and trades councils on the IoW.
In addition to the engagement with the public in town centres there will be workplace visits and a public meeting on the Monday evening, 24 March 2014, to be held in the Quay Arts Centre, Sea St, Newport, Isle of Wight PO30 5BW.
