Freshwater Film Club screening, introduced by film historians Tony Dalton and Tim Nicholson.
Dir: Thomas McCarthy
Cast: Peter Dinklage, Patricia Clarkson & Bobby Cannavale
When his only friend and co-worker dies, a young man (Dinklage) born with dwarfism moves away from the city to an abandoned train depot in rural New Jersey. Although he tries unsuccessfully to lead a solitary life, he soon becomes entangled with an artist (Clarkson) who is struggling to overcome a personal tragedy and an over-friendly Cuban hot-dog vendor (Cannavale).
We always try to find a quirky film to start the season off with, and this one is no exception. With its gently nature, THE STATION AGENT is an engaging, humorous and sometimes touching story, helped by unfussy direction and a trio of wonderfully drawn characters.
All the screenings start at 7.00pm (doors open at 6.30pm) and membership for the season is £21.00 (or £3.00 per film on the door).
