Part of Ventnor Fringe Festival 2013
Experience the voices of World War 1 captured in this theatrical double bill. Both plays provide real life accounts of the tragedies, friendships and politics of the Great War without the glorification of the history books.
Tin Can Soldiers – follows the lives of a group of boy scouts, with one as young as 14 years old, as they recall the day they lied about their age and enlisted in the British Army. No mother’s grief and pleading would be able to bring these sons home safely.
The Long Retreat from Mons – describes one of the most famous retreats at the start of World War 1 from the prospective of 4 soldiers of different ranks. As the retreat together, escape adversity and stare death in the face at every corner, it will be a British Army regulation that will bring about their end.
