This intimate evening is a rare opportunity to listen to one of the greatest young up and coming piano talents in the music world. In addition to playing a wide variety of pieces, Martin will join in conversation with the audience and give an exclusive insight into the story of his career to date. Indeed, the audience will be encouraged to put their questions to Martin.

At the age of 17, Martin James Bartlett was awarded the title of BBC Young Musician of the Year 2014, performing Rachmaninov’s Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini.

Soon afterwards Martin was one of 27 international artists, including Elton John, Stevie Wonder, Nicola Benedetti, Sam Smith, One Direction and Emeli Sandé to be chosen by the BBC to record a cover of the Beach Boys classic ‘God Only Knows’, later released as the BBC Children in Need single.

In 2015 he became one of the youngest ever soloists to debut at the BBC Proms. Performing Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue in the sold out Royal Albert Hall event. And as part of the Chinese State visit last year, Martin performed a private concert for the First Lady of China, Peng Liyuan and other dignitaries.

Then in June 2016, he performed for HM The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh and other senior members of the Royal Family as part of the National Service of Thanksgiving for Her Majesty The Queen's 90th Birthday, which was broadcast live on BBC One from St. Paul's Cathedral.
