You'll laugh. You may shed a tear. You'll definitely have plenty to think about! Billed as a unique theatrical experience, an updated production of 'Wake' comes to the intimate theatre at Quay Arts, Newport, for one night only - Saturday, April 23.
It features new cast members and several changes to the original production, which was premiered on the Island last summer.
This is the last chance to see 'Wake' performed on the Island by its most innovative theatre company, Origins Theatre, before the production moves to the mainland.
This one hour play tells the funny/sad story of Mel, whose search for a sense of direction brings her in contact with plenty of well-meaning friends, all of whom have their own way of getting through the day - and aren't afraid to share them with Mel or the audience!
The action switches locations at high speed - a funeral, a cruise ship, a cinema, a living room, a church: with the cast acting as the stage set, too ... One reviewer said: ‘Wake’ is a very well written play, and despite the seriousness of the title was both moving and funny. A good observation of human feelings and beliefs, ‘Wake’ has the ability to entertain and leave the audience in reflective mode.
