Award winning Scottish Pianist for West Wight Arts

“Rounded, fully achieved performance…Coiled energy and flashes of melodic grace” Daily Telegraph

The last recital of West Wight Arts Association’s season will be given on Saturday April 5th in Freshwater Memorial Hall by the award winning young pianist Christopher Guild.

Chris was brought up on Speyside and then studied at the Royal College of Music in London. Whilst there he was awarded a Countess of Munster Scholarship which took him all over the country playing concerti, including twice with the Isle of Wight Symphony Orchestra. He also plays as an orchestral pianist, and is a busy chamber musician.

Christopher Guild starts his recital with a sonata by CPE Bach, the 400th anniversary of whose birth falls in 2014. This will be followed by the Piano Sonata by Frank Bridge, Benjamin Britten’s Holiday Diary, four short pieces including Early Morning Bathe and Sailing, Brahms’ Six Klavierstücke and three very short movements by the Scottish composer Ronald Center, whose work Chris Guild has recorded for Toccata Classics.

Tickets at £12, (£2 students and children) are obtainable from Totland Parish Council Office, personal call Monday–Thursday 9 am-noon, phone 756028, or email [email protected]. Tickets can also be reserved via our website www.westwightarts.co.uk. The concert starts at 7.30 pm.
