Vaguely Sunny's first two concerts of 2011 will feature American harp player Lily Neill who will be making a most welcome return to the Island, having played here three times before.

Lily played at Brading Church in November 2008, and returned in May 2009 for two double header concerts with kora player Kadialy Kouyate from Senegal at Niton Church and Quay Arts.

On this visit Lily will again be giving two concerts -on Friday, February 4th at Whitwell Church in aid of the west window appeal, and on Saturday, February 5th at Dimbola Lodge, Freshwater Bay.

Lily is from Washington, DC. She graduated from the University of Limerick in 2007 with a first class honours degree inj Irish Traditional Music. She is now based at the prestigous Sibelius Academy in Helsinki, Finland. Lily has had an eventful musical career to date. As a teenager, she played at a concert for the then American President Bill Clinton. Coming right up to date, Lily made two visits to play in Russia in 2010. During her first trip she performed at a special concert for the visiting Irish President, and also met Mikael Gorbachev.

Lily plays a diverse range of musical styles - Irish, Scottish, Scandinavian and classical. She is a highly talented composer. One of the reasons that Lily has been invited back is because not only is she such a gifted musician, but she also has a superb disposition and demeanor which has won her many admirers on her previous visits.

At Whitwell Church, all profits from the concert will go to the west window appeal. The west window in the church is in urgent need of repair. Not only are the tracery and mullions weather worn and crumbling, but also the stained glass has broken away in places next to the tracery, and sections of the glass are bowed. These repairs require a significant amount of money.

Both concerts will begin at 8.00pm. Tickets for the Whitwell event are £10.00 each and can be purchased in advance from Whitwell Post Office, or by phoning 01983-730930.

Tickets for Dimbola are £10.00 each and can be booked by phoning 01983-730930
