The time is 1900 - the scene is the seaside resort of Folkestone. Arthur Kipps, an orphan and apprentice draper works for a bullying boss. He doesn’t get much chance to see Ann, his childhood sweetheart so he gives a token to her, Half A Sixpence.

However Kipps, finds himself suddenly falling in love with the cultured aristocrat Helen Walsingham. But could he adjust to a life in high society? Can he leave Ann for a ‘better’ life? Will the two halves of the sixpence ever be united?
