Set somewhen in Japan, The Mikado was, and remains, one of Gilbert and Sullivan's most popular operettas.
Set in the town of Titipu, where the Lord High Executioner is himself a man condemned to death, and therefore has to exectute himself somehow (the trials of cutting ones own head off!), people fall in love with other people who are out of their reach (already promised to someone else etc) and the ubiquitous case of mistaken identity, this show follows the familiar twists and turns of a G & S Operetta.
Songs include 'Three Little Maids' and 'A Wand'ring Minstrel I'.
This is the Island Savoyard's 40th anniversary year and the Mikado was the first production they put on, so this is very much a homage to shows and performers past and present.
Tickets are £11 each
